The problem alls for a simple y le whose total edge weight does not ex eed a given threshold, while visiting a subset of nodes with maximum total prize. This NP-hard problem arises in routing and s heduling appli ations. We des ribe a bran h-andut algorithm for nding an optimal OP solution. The algorithm is based on several families of valid inequalities. We also introdu e a family of uts whi h an ut o the optimal OP solution, alled onditional uts, and propose an e e tive way to use them within the overall bran h-andut framework. Exa t and heuristi separation algorithms are des ribed, as well as heuristi pro edures to produ e near-optimal OP solutions. An extensive omputational analysis on several lasses of both real-world and random instan es is reported. The algorithm proved to be able to solve to optimality large-s ale instan es involving up to 500 nodes, within a eptable omputing time. This ompares favourably with previous published methods.

Orienteering Problem with Variable Profits, Fractional Objective Function and Demand on Arcs
Nowadays, due to the high expectations of customers in meeting their demand and the competition environment among service providers, employers are working to provide customers with new methods in the shortest possible time and in the best possible way to attract customer’s satisfaction and maximize profits. In this paper, the orienteering problem with variable profits, fractional objective func...
متن کاملA Branch-and-Cut Algorithm for Solving the Team Orienteering Problem
This paper describes a branch-and-cut algorithm to solve the Team Orienteering Problem (TOP). TOP is a variant of the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) in which the aim is to maximize the total amount of collected profits from visiting customers while not exceeding the predefined travel time limit of each vehicle. In contrast to the exact solving methods in the literature, our algorithm is based on...
متن کاملA branch-and-cut algorithm for the Orienteering Arc Routing Problem
In arc routing problems, customers are located on arcs, and routes of minimum cost have to be identified. In the Orienteering Arc Routing Problem (OARP), in addition to a set of regular customers that have to be serviced, a set of potential customers is available. From this latter set, customers have to be chosen on the basis of an associated profit. The objective is to find a route servicing t...
متن کاملBranch-cut-price algorithms for solving a class of search problems on general graphs
We consider graph search problems involving an intruder and mobile searchers. The graph consists of nodes on which the intruder and searchers may be located, and edges on which these entities travel. Associated with each node is a set of nodes that are visible from that node. The goal is to find the minimum number of searchers needed to detect the intruder within a given time limit. We investig...
متن کاملGotta (efficiently) catch them all: Pokémon GO meets Orienteering Problems
In this paper a new routing problem referred to as the Generalized Clustered Orienteering Problem (GCOP) is studied. The problem is motivated by the mobile phone game Pokémon GO, an augmented reality game for mobile devices holding a record-breaking reception: within the first month of its release, more than 100 million users have installed the game on their device. The game’s immense popularit...
